I am the Labour Member of Parliament for Kingswood, first elected in 1992.  The South Gloucestershire wards covered by my constituency are Downend, Kings Chase, Hanham, Longwell Green, Parkwall, Rodway, Siston, Staple Hill and Woodstock.  The Bristol wards covered by my constituency are Frome Vale and Hillfields.  The boundaries of Kingswood parliamentary constituency will change at the next election.  Frome Vale, Hillfields, Staple Hill and Downend will no longer be part of Kingswood.  However, parts of Hanham, Bitton and Oldland Common that are currently in Wansdyke constituency will come into Kingswood.

He is supporting the Dignity in Care campaign, together with staff in care services and members of the public, like Sir Michael Parkinson. A government grant of £10 million has enabled work to start on the £300 million science park at Emersons Green. The building of SPark will be a huge economic boost to our area, creating 6,000 new jobs.

The investment will create one of the UK’s biggest science parks, creating more high-tech and ancillary jobs and boosting the local economy, by building on our strengths.

Roger said:

“The South West Regional Development Agency, the local universities and all other partners involved should be congratulated. They have worked very hard to get this project moving. This additional government funding is just what’s needed to help secure the economic recovery.

“We must now urgently re-examine the case for the M4 Link. The idea of a link road from a new junction on the M4 to the Avon Ring Road at Emersons Green has been discussed for years. SPark makes this even more necessary.”
