Roger with local residents at Cossham Hospital

ROGER WELCOMES £19 MILLION COSSHAM HOSPITAL REFURBISHMENT

Roger has welcomed the announcement that Cossham Hospital is set for a £19 million refurbishment.

He played a crucial role in opposing initial plans from local NHS managers to close Cossham and, since then, has been lobbying for investment to improve services at the hospital.

The Cossham development will be part of a network of community hospitals and healthcare centres being created as part of the Bristol Health Services Plan. This means that people will be able to have a wider range of healthcare nearer to where they live.

Roger said: “I am absolutely delighted that, working together, we have won the battle to refurbish Cossham Hospital.”

“We will now have state-of-the-art healthcare facilities
• a minor injuries service,
• the only midwife-led birthing centre in South Gloucestershire and Bristol,
• a satellite renal dialysis unit,
• MRI and CT scanners,
• outpatient services,
• diagnostic services,
• therapy services (physiotherapy, audiology and speech and language.

“This is only possible because of the massive investment taking place in our local NHS and is strongly supported by the people of Kingswood.”

Mr Berry, I am a 23 year old female who has lived in Bristol all of my life. I dont know if I am writing to the right person and you probably wont listen anyway, because the politician often says one
thing, that they think people want to hear, and mean completely the opposite. I am writing to you because I want to vent my frustration. I am currently a student with Filton College, I am studying a
HND in equitation and am based at Horseworld. Today all of the students at Horseworld were informed that the course would not be able to continue, so the pupils will be able to finish the course but
once the students have completed the course that will be it! I want to ask why this is allowed to happen? Why are we not given an ample explanation? The person who imformed us gave us a number of
different and inconclusive reasons, one being that the College was being made to concentrate on different areas such as construction. The equiune industry could be a highly profitable industry and
the reason there is low pay within the industry is because no one can get properly qualified, especially when courses like this are shut down. Not only that but there were four people left unemployed
in a yearsd time, one of which is a particular credit to the teaching industry.
